Blue Rock Coffee
About Our Roasters
We are Sue and John, a wife and husband team of coffee lovers. We often say, one of the best feelings in the world is that first sip of coffee in the morning. We started out as home coffee roasters making some amazing roasts, ones that we not only enjoyed ourselves but shared with family and friends. Now we want to share them with you: our new friends.
Sue was born in Kentucky and raised in southern New Jersey. She received her nursing degree from Villanova University and Master’s in Health Administration from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA.
John is a Delaware County, PA native growing up in Yeadon. He is a graduate of Monsignor Bonner High School. Like Sue, John is a Villanova wildcat where he earned his accounting degree. He received his MBA in Finance from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA. Besides being a coffee aficionado and roaster, he is also a licensed, practicing Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
About Blue Rock
We named our roastery “Blue Rock Coffee” as an homage to our adopted state of Delaware. The Wilmington blue rock is Delaware's most famous rock. These geological wonders underly both the city of Wilmington and the rolling upland north and east of the city.
Blue Rock Coffee is more than just a coffee roasting company. It’s also a means to help and support those in our community and in the areas from where we source our beans. How so? We are glad you asked.
We partner with a supplier comprised of a community of farmers and coffee roasters from around the world who share a passion for excellent coffee and a commitment to sustainability. We believe that everyone - from farmers to customers - is crucial to our mission to provide authentic and excellent coffee.
On the home front, a percentage or our sales are donated to a local charity. We rotate those donations each quarter to benefit as many as possible.
